Welcome to this online course teaching you how to “Say No to Boring Lectures” and maximize learning, retention, and engagement in your classroom




There is a better way to lecture (I’ll wait to approach you with the question of, “Why are you lecturing anyways?”) Old habits are hard to break but I know that many of you want to see your students more engaged during your time together.

Students can read for themselves so we need to get away from the traditional image of a professor standing at the podium reading their slides as the students drift off into oblivion.

Science has found a way! This course will introduce you to a field known as Cognitive Learning Theory. In particular we will pay attention to the cognitive aspects of the theory and how we can best use the concepts to help you create slides which will help foster learning and retention.
